Washington
Township History is dedicated to the preservation and disseminating of
information relating to the history of Hocking County's Washington
Township. This is a not-for-profit (not IRS non-profit, though)
venture headed by Chris Burchett, a Washington Township
resident.
In order to fully learn of the history of the
area, it was felt that a Web site project should be undertaken to
collect as much information as possible and post it on-line. Very
little information exists about the Township, especially in one central
location on-line. Therefore, it is hoped that this Web site will
reach out to those with information and combine everything obtained into
one free, public on-line research "center."
Chris Burchett is currently attending Hocking
College, majoring in Business Management. He has undertaken this
Web site on his own time, not connected to any class projects. It
is merely, as he puts it, a way of "serving the community by
providing as much area information as possible in one
location." In addition to area history, his other primary
hobby focuses on the railroad industry. Combining the two
together, he volunteers extensively, in a variety of capacities, at the Hocking
Valley Scenic Railway in Nelsonville, Ohio.
Any donations received, monetary or otherwise,
are used exclusively for the purpose of maintaining the Web site and
funding the efforts of uncovering and providing area history to the
general public for free. Please note that donations are,
unfortunately, not tax deductible, being a personal project and not a
non-profit organization.
